Maria Caulfield is the Academic Coordinator for the NeuroSKILL project in North Wales. Her role includes supporting all facets of the smooth running of the project, specifically the support of academic colleagues in the development and delivery of modules relevant to the role of neuroimaging in Dementia diagnosis, treatment and research.

Before joining NeuroSKILL, Maria completed her MSc in Neuroimaging at Bangor University where she investigated the effects of change in physiological state on excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission. During this time, she became experienced in the use of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS). She has a strong interest in research aimed at measuring Glutamate, GABA and Glutamine changes and relationships in response to internal stimuli.
