James Durkan

Graduating from NUIG in 1983 with a BA (Hons) in Psychology Applied and Pure, James found that the insights his study of psychology had offered could be applied to emerging desktop computing and its software applications. Having spent the eighties in London, he returned to Ireland in 1991 to acquire a postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from UCC and stayed. After several years teaching computer applications in a Galway business college, James returned to college. In 2003, he was conferred with an MA in e-Learning Design & Development from the University of Limerick. His thesis was the design and development of an online course for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s. For the next several years, James worked as an Education Technologist / Instructional Designer in the Welsh Valleys in a variety of education environments before returning to Ireland in 2012 to take up post as the Education Technologist for NeuroSKILL.
